Fading Lights

So, I am back from the Idaho trip obviously. The trip continued to be awesome: lots of gaming, movies, and hanging out. Spent time with Brother's parents and younger brother and sister-in-law, which was great; I adore his family. ♥ Got to ride a horse for the first time in over ten years (which, as someone who was literally raised with horses has been like the loss of a limb). Realized I remember more than I'd thought, but was still semi-anxious because I've had many bad experiences with riding someone else's horse. (No worries; the ride was short and cold, but fun. ^_^) Came home with new clothes and video games and handheld systems and ALL THE THINGS.

This is where the drama begins.

While I was gone, someone saw Sky climbing up the window screen. We're not allowed to have pets here, so this went over well. >.O The manager was surprisingly cooler about it than I'd expected: instead of straight eviction, Shi-chan was given two months to get rid of her cats and add me to the lease.

We started apartment hunting instead, for a place that was closer to her work, cheaper, and allowed cats. So far, no luck.

I can't remember if I've mentioned it here or not, but my beloved laptop Adam has been having issues lately. Crashing, freezing, all that fun stuff. I tried backing everything up and doing a complete system restore to factory settings, but no dice. So yesterday, Shi-chan took it to work with her to ask a tech friend to take a look at it.

The end result is that my graphics card and Windows are crashing. And seeing as it's a hardware issue, there's really not much I can do. I plan on taking Brother up on his request to use it for parts. (Yeah, he's got weird hobbies, but whatever.) I ... have no idea when I'll be able to replace it. Which means I'm going to be playing lots of video games and borrowing Shi-chan's computer to check updates and let everyone know I'm still alive. ;_;

Then today, Shi-chan had a massive company meeting. Long story short, we are now moving to Texas! Specifically Austin. They're helping out with the move, which is *awesome*, but it's still a 20+ hour drive in a rental truck with the two of us and two cats who hate car trips. This ... will be fun. -_-;;;

I don't know exactly when we're moving yet, just that we have to *be* there by the beginning of April. We're sort of hoping they'll let us go sooner because then it will be done and OVER and we can stop stressing about it. And the sooner we get there, the sooner we can learn the layout of the new city and Shi-chan can go back to work and I can start job hunting. In the meantime, we both get to sit around here and try not to twitch at all the things that need doing but we can't do yet. >.<

So between computer and moving issues, I'm not going to be available much for awhile. I can't say for sure how long, but hopefully it won't be *too* bad. And I'll still be checking updates and things; I just won't be around as often.

I promise to keep you all posted. And hey, if you're somewhere around Austin, let me know! I could use someone to show me around! ^_^
