I was staring at FtD earlier -Eyes [personal profile] psyco_chick32 warily- and found a line where Justin had originally thought 'Oh, god.' But now that I've been thinking about it, I'm finding it hard to believe Justin would actually direct any thoughts toward a higher being. Especially in FtD seeing as it's EmoJustin to the extreme, but Justin in general. (I know that Blake Foster is very Christian, but I'm thinking specifically about the character.) Between his unstable family life and being introduced to science and the Power at such a young age, I really can't see him having faith in something greater than himself.*

Which lead me to thinking about Rangers and Religion.

I blame S.P.D.

We know Bridge is Jewish. That's Canon. It's one of the things I like best about him actually, and it sparked an interesting conversation with [personal profile] thesecondbatgirl about Bridge in Bright Skies that I plan to address via mini-series in the future. Because being Jewish is clearly very important to Bridge, as it is to Matt Austin, and I want to respect that as being an integral part of his character.

Now I'm thinking about religion for my characters in FtD, but after mentioning the idea to [personal profile] starlit_purple, also about Rangers in canon and/or Fandom. It's a serious question, after all. For so many people, religion is a part of who you are. But would being a Ranger challenge that? The Power is a concept of science and magic, and a world outside our own. I'd like to say it wouldn't, but you never know.

That being said, I'm now seriously pondering what religion various Rangers might be. Namely for FtD, but also outside that universe. I've somewhat decided/established in the last version of FtD that Rocky was Catholic, and now that Justin is Atheist. I think Billy would probably be Atheist as well. There's a few characters I'm semi-settled for, but I'm open to arguments for or against.

Any thoughts or suggestions for various characters? Thoughts on the idea of religion in Power Rangers in general? I'm open for debate, too! (Obviously I'm bored. And curious.)

* The Power not withstanding.
** I doubt that I actually need to put this here, but when opening a can of worms:

I have respect all religion and religious people as a whole. I have no preference for what any character should believe because of my own religious and spiritual beliefs. Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions. I hope that no one feels offended and has no desire to offend anyone else in a potential debate.
